One of the best ways to enjoy music remains live performances. Each live performance is unique as a result of the venue, the performers, the mood in which we are in and the audience that attends. It is therefore never too predictable as a CD recording is, as it will never sound as anything heard before. It is also great fun to enjoy a good night out.
Preparation for live performances greatly improves our ability to enjoy. If we learn about the music in advance and listen to it at least once or twice then by the time we sit in the hall we are ready to extend our experience by the live aspects of he performance - new interpretation, visual elements (both in concerts and in opera) and unique voices where singers are involved.
